“I don’t want to spend another year leading worship if it does not produce eternal fruit in the lives of the worshippers. So if I’m going to do this, then I am begging God to teach me what Truth is, personally, and that He would empower me to impart that Truth in the safety of the time of worship. What better place to impart the truth than in the presence of Truth?”

A worship band with roots deep in the church, Pocket Full of Rocks has developed a reputation for birthing new worship songs during the middle of a worship service. Alisa Farren describes her husband as more of a ‘song-receiver’ than a ‘song-writer.’ Three songs, “At The Cross,” “You’re My Everything” and “Call You Beautiful” were all spontaneously created during congregational worship settings, she says.

At the Cross

by Pocket Full of Rocks on Thu, 11/08/2007 - 9:51am
In spite of how we feel, what Jesus accomplished at the cross brings freedom. Most of us know this as truth in our heads, but sometimes find it hard to believe in our hearts. This song is a declaration of that fact. No matter how dark our addictions or how heavy our pain, the sacrifice of Christ at the cross brings lasting freedom, leading us to a place in worship where only those who have been rescued can go.

Let The Worshippers Arise

by Pocket Full of Rocks on Thu, 11/08/2007 - 9:43am
"Let The Worshippers Arise" has been part of our set for about 7 years now. Originally written during a worship service in our local church, it never seems to lose its place as an anthem that challenges us to go to a deeper place of worship and surrender. Many people will recognize the song as the title track of a Phillips Craig and Dean album. We are excited to bring a fresh version of this song forward for the "Manifesto" project, and our prayer is that it continues to be used to encourage the body of Christ.

Cowboy Farren

by Pocket Full of Rocks on Tue, 11/06/2007 - 9:16am

I must have been 9 or 10 years old when I discovered my very first Louis L’Amour western novel. Only took one and I was hooked. I read whatever I could get my hands on and often would read the entire book in one day—quite an accomplishment for a ten-year-old, red-blooded American boy. Something about those stories simply captured my young imagination. I just couldn’t read enough about those rough and tough men, beating insurmountable odds, all in the name of liberty
