Hopefully, you read this blog enough to realize I didn’t to a Sunday recap this weekend. (Hopefully, you read The Worship Community enough to know they weren’t posted there on Sunday either) There is a perfectly good reason for these breaches of internet etiquette. Allow me to explain…
Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
As the Grammys wrap up and the Oscars announce nominees this week, I am considering the relevance of the modern "industry awards" in light of my changing perspectives of the music business in particular, and the artistic professions in general. There has been a lot of derision heaped on this years Grammy Awards show, and rightfully so. With a a couple of standout exceptions, it was pretty much a nightmare, and I’m not (just) talking about Taylor Swift’s horrible off-key performance…
Excerpts from the Joint’s review of "Vapour Water Ice", KEYGYMA worship ministry’s debut worship album:
Kerygma Worship is basically an unknown. I love finding new music, in this case it’s particularly interesting because they’re from India. Right off the bat, this project deserves props because this is certainly a resource meant for the local church. They’ve crafted 10 songs for congregation singing and have made the chord charts, background slides, and even ring tones available to be downloaded from their site.
On Thursday, we got the opportunity to bookend the day with the bookends of the programs offered by Compassion International. We started the day heading out to one of the Project sites in Lima that has what’s called a Child Survival Program. This program is offered to mother/child units instead of children. Everything Compassion does is very holistic in nature and this program is no exception, offering a wide range of care for pre-natal moms through moms with children up to about 4 years old, when they can begin to register for Child Sponsorship.
2 corn 4:8-11 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you.
God created the Sabbath day, 7 days a week, 1 day of rest.
God said to keep the Sabbath HOLY. Why? So we would spend time with him and not be distracted by the cares of life.
In the past (BC)——- temple only open on sabbath day for main activities most people could not read 1 copy of God’s word people would only hear God’s word once a week God’s prescence was only within the temple
Now——- We have God’s word whenever we want God dwells not just in a temple, but with us
Micah 6:6-8 6 With what shall I come before the LORD, And bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old? 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?
Psalm 13 1 How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? 2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? 3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4 Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him”; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5 But I have trusted in Your mercy;
