For the majority of 2005 and the early 2006, the Gathering was on a pretty significant growth curve concerning prayer [still on it, by the way]. As we would sit in meetings I would listen to the things God was causing to rise in us and I would sometimes use those prayers to write songs. "Heaven Hear Us" was such a prayer. I’ve learned that original songs in the context of a community of believers are SO IMPORTANT because they can take a word from God that is so precise and relevant to where we are, and through melodies and repetition He can just drive that word into our hearts collectively. That’s what this song has done in us.
