Jon Abel

Texas-based Worship Leader/Artist Jon Abel never dreamed of "doing music" for a living. His mom and dad surprised him with a guitar for his high school graduation so this was an unlikely forecast for Jon’s life. Fast-forward a few God-directed years and in addition to playing events/concerts nation-wide, Jon leads worship on Sunday mornings at his home church, Highland Park Presbyterian’s 1105 gathering in Dallas. “In the context of this community is where I get refueled and sent out to go and do what I do,” Abel says. “Community is where life was meant to be lived so i’m very fortunate to have a home base of family and friends that support me and what I do.”

A writer with Nashville’s Universal/Brentwood Benson Music, Jon’s song “Awesome Is The Lord Most High”(entitled “Most High” on Jon’s More Than This album) was recently covered on both the Passion:Everything Glorious CD and Chris Tomlin’s two-time Grammy nominated and Gold-selling See The Morning album.

Partnering again with producer/artist Cary Pierce and with songs co-written with Cary, Brandon Heath, Chad Cates, Chris Tomlin, Don Chaffer, and Jeff Johnson, Jon’s new album, Back To You(2007), was written with a “vertical” goal in mind; for the Church to sing in worship. With the same pop/rock feel as More Than This, this is Jon at his best, doing what he was made to do.
