Believe In You

My wife wrote the simple verse to this song several years ago.  At the time, I was serving as Worship Pastor at Calvary International Fellowship, a missions oriented Calvary Chapel church in San Diego.  The Pastor at the time, Jeff Jackson (now of Shepherd’s Staff Missions Coordinators), used to emphasize what it meant to believe, saying, "To believe is to trust in, cling to, and rely upon" Jesus with our whole heart.

Early in 2007, I was preparing to lead worship at one of our Men’s Breakfasts at Calvary Chapel Mission Hills.  After sound check, I just started to worship the Lord, strumming some chords, and God brought the verse to mind.  Within five minutes I was singing the whole song.  The chorus and bridge just flowed out of a moment of spontaneous worship.  Normally I have to craft a song, thinking through parts, and trying different ways to express what is on my mind and in my heart.  This was different.  It was a special moment of declaration of faith and worship of the King.

What I have posted is a rather rough recording done on my dining room computer at home.  The song has been a blessing at our church.  It is a simple song that expresses the heart of many in our church as we worship.  Your comments and feedback would be appreciated.

In His Service, Greg S.

Lyrics:

I trust in You, cling to You, Rely on You, I believe I trust in You, cling to You Rely on You, I believe

And I come to worship You And I come to worship You

You are holy, holy You are holy, Lord You are worthy, worthy You are worthy, Lord

Give me faith to believe in You Saving grace I receive from You In life’s race, I will run to You In this place, I will worship You
