I meet every Wed. nite with a group of men that I have become very close to over the past few months. We get real with ourselves and each other and it has become so important to me to have this “safe place”.

One of the things we heard last week was a reading in which this statement was made: “Accept that you are accepted.” I love that! God tells us that in Christ we are accepted in the beloved… we couldn’t do enough to earn it, can’t do enough to maintain our status in God, it’s by grace through faith in Christ!

That’s a wonderful gift and it smacks my pride right in the face! I want to earn it by my diligence, discipline, devotion (not that any of those things are bad), but who am I to think that I could be the first human ever to earn God’s approval and acceptance?

So, I want to accept that I am accepted.

I just wrote a song a few months ago that I believe says it well:
